Clinical climate impact research
In the Research Area Pneumology of the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is used as a model disease for the clinical climate impact research. The goal is to examine the effects of climate and air quality on the health status of patients suffering from a COPD. On the one hand the research focuses on which factors influence the morbidity and mortality of patients, on the other hand adaptation strategies and countermeasures are researched.
Research on new therapeutic methods
In order to offer our patients the most modern therapy methods, the staff of the Research Area Pneumology is involved in clinical studies. These focus on new drugs and new airway remodelling techniques for chronic airway diseases.
